How to Tell Your Brand’s Story
My job as your brand photographer is to tell your brand’s story through the images I take. But what if you’ve never really considered how to tell your brand’s story? Answering questions like “who is your ideal client” can feel intimidating and overwhelming without support and guidance. I want you to feel confident in communicating your brand’s story because when you know it in your heart, people will see it in your photos. Check out these three resources to help you refine your brand’s story and be able to share it effectively with prospective clients and customers!
Honestly, defining my ideal client was one of the hardest things I’ve done for my business. I hate putting people into a box – I’d love to work with so many people, why do I need to be so specific? After years of butting heads with the concept, I finally understood that getting specific made it easier for me to envision how I would actually have a conversation with a human. Having a clear picture in my mind of what she likes, doesn’t like, values, and believes allows me to focus on how I speak to her, rather than trying to speak to a crowd. There are many resources out there for defining your ideal client, but I made one for my clients that I’m happy to share with you as well! Fill out this form and a workbook link will be delivered to your inbox!
Once you understand your ideal client, you need to use that information to determine how you will communicate with them. Treefrog Marketing, a marketing firm from Indianapolis, has a great resource for doing this. Their Marketing Guiding Statements PDF workbook and accompanying Priority Pursuit podcast episodes make it easy to start telling your brand’s story no matter your learning style.
Thanks to the Priority Pursuit podcast I mentioned above, I came across the book Building A Story Brand by Donald Miller. This book is all about how to communicate about your brand as though your client is the hero and you are the guide who is there to help them on their journey. Speaking about your brand this way empowers your client and instantly creates a connection between you. I consider this book a must-read if you’re a small business owner!
Whether the answer is yes or no, I am ready to help! If you look at these resources and feel overwhelmed, I’m happy to talk through them with you over a cup of coffee. And if you’re looking at these thinking “HELL YES! LET’S DO THIS!” then let’s start making moves toward scheduling your brand session. I can’t wait to help you tell your brand’s story!
